Lvsi port is the rare natural deepwater harbor in Jiangsu province, it has up to30kilometers deepwater coastline, the Xiaomiaohong deepwater channel has10-ton navigation capability. At present, lvsi port’s navigation shipping quantity and the port throughput has significantly increased, lvsi waterway navigation of the ship scale and its transport capacity has not met the demand of the development of the port. In order to increase the navigation capabilities of lvsi port, it is necessary to carry out scientific analysis and evaluation for the channel of lvsi port, to adapt to the development and construction of lvsi port area, promote Nantong coastal industry development, promote the development of Jiangsu coastal development and regional economy.Based on the research and analysis of domestic and international navigation ability, and in combination with the practical situation of lvsi channel, this paper proposes two kinds of main factors which affect the navigation ability of the lvsi port, namely the largest single ship through power and navigation transportation capacity. Then, based on the The Design Method of the Port’s specifications and relevant research results at home and abroad about navigation ability, and in accordance with the practice need of production, this paper build a comprehensive evaluation model of the traffic ability which reviewed many factors, such as the channel available width, depth, tide time and ship flux. Because of the complexity of the channel condition and calculation process involves many parameters, the artificial calculation of channel capacity is a heavy, complicated and error-prone job. On the basis of the waterway capacity evaluation model which has been established, this thesis develop a of waterway navigation capability assessment system using vc++6.0, the system applicability is widespread, man-machine interface operation is simple and easy to understand. Finally the system is applied to10ton waterway navigation capability assessment for lvsi port, the assessment results of channel has the certain reference value in the field of the reasonable planning and safety management for the channel of lvsi port.
