About 40%of the world's container trade passes through the East-West main route.The growth rate of the container trade volume on the Asia-Europe route declined in 2017,and the trade volume even showed a downward trend in 2018.Although the pressure on international shipping has increased in recent years,due to the low freight rates of seaborne transport,bulk cargo from all over the world is still preferred to be shipped.With the development of large-scale shipping and information globalization,nine of the top 10 shipping companies in the world participate in the formation of shipping alliances.The major shipping companies are working together through the rental of space,space sharing,co-dispatch ship and other forms of cooperation.Under the new era background,how to plan the fleet size and arrange the cooperation with the alliance companies reasonably according to the market demand has become the main point that every liner company considers.This paper firstly analyzes the historical development of shipping alliance,introduces what is liner shipping route,and briefly describes the influencing factors,basic principles and optimization methods of ship deployment optimization.Then,an optimization model of ship deployment of liner shipping route is proposed in the context of alliance,which aims to make decision on fleet selection and number of vessels under the constraint of minimum total operating cost.Aiming at the Shanghai-Europe container liner shipping lines of Z shipping company,the feasibility and applicability of the model are validated by using LINGO,the fleet configuration in the case of non-alliance is compared,and by adjusting the transportation demand,a sensitivity analysis is run.The results show that the model is applicable and the operating cost of the shipping company is lower under the alliance background.With the increase of the transportation demand,the scale benefit of the large-scale ship becomes more obvious.Finally,some suggestions on the continuous optimization and dynamic management of the Shanghai-Europe container liner shipping lines of Z shipping company are proposed.
