Mechanical engineering design belongs to the category of industrial design.Industrial design is the design of combining science and art activities, is an integrated design process. Industrial design is not only the category of external modeling, color and decoration, more is must consider the function, structure, material, technology, ergonomics, and many other factors.With the progress of technology, the domestic construction machinery manufacturers to develop function is more and more perfect products to meet the demand of the market, but on the emotional needs of the users and the less the experience into consideration. When considering engineering machinery product design, the first factor should be its function as it decides the appearance that must not deviate from the function. Second, a good engineering machinery product should not be only functional and reliable, but also with exquisite elegancy, to satisfy users from not only with its function and application, but also its aesthetic elements. Nowadays, heavy machinery industry enterprises in China have narrowed the technology gap between them and their foreign competitors. However, the inherent disadvantage in industrial design in China remains as a major cause of that the domestic products are still inferior to the foreign competitors, in terms of product image and brand establishment.It is based on the above background, this paper completed the XinZhu corporation to entrust the southwest Jiaotong university man-machine-environment system of paver industrial design design institute to complete the project, the appearance design of the engineering machinery products and explores the optimization of human scale.
