In recent years, with the rapid development of three-dimensional graphics, virtual reality and human-computer interaction technology, three-dimensional geographic information system has got a rapid development. In the field of navigation, the direction of development changed from electronic chart to the three-dimensional electronic chart.With the gradual deepening of navigation, users need not only water space but also underwater, land-based spatial information, including the riverbed, terrain, docks, port buildings and other elements of the information, the same as elements essentially dispalyed in two-dimensional manner. In response to this situation, the generation route of multi-dimensional digital waterway’s underwater scene raise as follow:1. Research on theory of establishing underwater scene and development in waterway application. Give the technical route, according to the technical route, select the generating algorithm of triangular irregular network to produce three-dimensional underwater riverbed DEM and distributed object model space database to organizate date, explore existing programs and give the final possible plan.2. Prepared data according to the technical route. Design spatial database, extracte the depth, bridges and other chart elements data of the water from the S-57data files, and dump the data to the designed spatial database. create riverbed DEM from Soundings, arrange the other elements and raster display, construct the model in waterway and associate data with the underwater scene space.3. Design and develop application system based on the technical route with the basic data. Database Design and Implementation of Oracle-based application systems business, design applications based on needs analysis and data flow. On the basis of design, space-based data and attribute information data, develop3D visualization, ship control and navigation-alarm functions in ArcEngine and.Net environment.
