The problem of temperature control of mass concrete is particularly prominent due to its material composition and construction characteristics, and the research of temperature field and thermal stress and measures to prevent the cracks is an important issue in the design and construction of dams. Temperature control problems handled incorrectly will result in cracks, and even affect the normal operation of the structure. In view of the regional climate characteristics where the RCC gravity dams constructed, non-pouring construction program is adopt, which makes the temperature and crack control more difficult, so the simulation of temperature field and stress field of massive concrete structures in cold area has important practical significance. However, the simulation of the temperature and stress field of massive concrete structures is closely related with climate conditions, the construction process, material properties and other factors.Based on the theory of heat conduction, mainly through large-scale finite element software AN SYS, temperature field and stress field of RCC gravity dam in construction period are studied in three-dimensional simulation method. The conservancy dam section is selected the research object:(1) considering the external climate change、elastic modulus、hydration heat and creep effect of concrete、the cooling effect of cooling water pipes and other factors, the temperature field and stress in construction period are studied in this paper.(2) as well as different factors that affect the cooling effect of cooling water pipe. It mainly focus on the analyzes of the factors of different spacing、water temperature and water time that affect the temperature of poured concrete, and the final pipe cooling scheme suitable for the engineering application is proposed.(3) A brief analysis of the impact of pouring parameters on a dam in cold area is conducted.(4) On the basis of study in different thermal field and creep stress, the temperature and crack control measures of RCC gravity dam in frost region are discussed in the research and a series of temperature control and crack control measures are proposed, which not only provide a certain amount of the theoretical basis for the design and construction of RCC dams but referential experience for dams of the similar project in frost areas.
