Dong building is an important part of traditional Chinese architectural culture, possesing distinct characteristics and excellent skills with the Drum Tower especially representative. The Drum Tower is an specialty architectural form of Dong nationality with unique style, exquisite technology and rigorous scientific internal structure. Based on the architecture of Han nationality, it has integrated the aesthetics and culture of their own nation, which is full of strong characteristics of national and local, fully reflecting the essence of traditional architecture of Dong nationality.In the process of building the Drum Tower of Dong village, the construction skills of construction blueprints and wooden structure of all the Drum Towers are fully mastered in the head of palm ink division. And his heritage is inheritance relationship, which has not been recorded. It is this particularity that makes the construction process of the Drum Tower highly confidential, therefore most of the researches on the Drum Tower are restricted in cultural interpretation or comprehensive analysis combined with other building types such as Feng Yu Qiao and Zhai Men while few researchers purly take the construction skills of wooden structers of the Drum Tower as main research objects. Therefore, this paper first expounds basic overview of Dong’s natural environment then focuses on making research and analysis on ink division, the construction process, construction skills of the Drum Tower and decoration of the Drum Tower with the construction skills of Zhaoxing Drum Tower the research object.This paper is based on a large number of field investigations, relative files and documents, summerizing and analyzing the construction process of the Drum Tower and construction skills characterized with wooden structures, futher analyzing its design concept and cultural connotation related with techniques.
