The thesis mainly include the following aspects of the content:(1) Based on the theory of typology, architecture and folklore and the survey of previous research, Opinion of traditional architecture's typology analysising has been obtained by summary of the concept of building types and study on the status of the developmen at home and abroad(2)According to the summary of the previous-published research methods about Architectural Typology, it has determined an analytical method on the traditional Architectural typology.This method is how to summary the type of typical characteristic and how to extract prototype with giving it historical significance.(3) With typical of architectural form of drum tower as well as the historical cultural background,dong drum of building types, treasure top type, flat facade types and structure types are Collated.Extracted the drum tower's deep structure and construction shaping from the history and culture,the the original form of the drum comes from Sheltered village's tree——the fire tree; quadrilateral, hexagon and octagon image in Drum Tower plane form symbolizes the combination and correspondence between things;its column in various forms is a symbol of the Dong Ethnic Group's ancestor worship and reproductive worship.(4) The architectural metaphor of Dong drum tower has a unique style, fully embodies the history and culture of the ethnic group. But through the analysis of the building type and the structure type of Dong drum tower, it's not difficult to discover that it was effected by Han culture, and it makes Han culture and Dong culture integrate into a building perfectly, which is very worthy of our learning from.Through the analysis of the prototype abstracted from Dong drum tower in depth, it can conclude that the architectural forms of Dong drum towers is combined with these prototypes and architectural elements, cultural factors. So the Dong drum tower becomes the buildings which have a profound historical culture significance and can satisfy people's special activities.
