In the collision of globalization on regional culture, urbanization, the context ofcultural destruction of traditional architecture, traditional style commercial streetsconstruction, such as mushroomed emerged. Led the city’s rapid economicdevelopment, create great business value, by the favor of the majority of developersand investors. But also led to many problems, such as the geographical features of thetraditional style commercial street disappeared, historical context fragmented, thespirit of place was lost and so on.In this current situation, I believe that the research on the traditional stylecommercial streets, not only emphasis on the functional, technical and commercialangle, but should be more integrated with urban natural environment, humanenvironment, social background, people’s psychological needs and aestheticrequirements, from traditional style commercial streets in the direction to create acultural mood to study. Based on this, I mind a series of questions:(1)Do the contemporary traditional style Commercial street create the culturalmood?(2)What is the real meaning of the cultural mood?(3)Which elements can express the traditional style commercial streets culturemood?(4) What is the relationship between traditional style commercial streetsculture mood and the various elements?(5)What are the principles and strategies in the traditional style commercialstreets to create the cultural mood?In order to solve the above problems one by one, the paper is divided into fivechapters to study.Chapter I describes the background of research, research reasons, researchobjects and related concepts. It also proposes five key questions and describes theresearch methods, purpose and meaning, and finally outlines the framework ofresearch.Chapters II describe five phenomena in the development of contemporarytraditional style commercial streets. Such as the similar style of streets, the functionalvariation, fake antiques rampant, recession geographical and cultural decay, the spirit of place was lost. And analyzes that why the traditional style commercial street wasloss of cultural mood.Chapter III make a detailed interpretation on the true meaning of cultural mood,and analysis of the cultural mood elements of the background elements, entityelements, human elements, and parse the relationship between the cultural mood andthe various elements.Chapter IV describes the geographical location and overall planning of theYueyang Tower and its interpretation of the success stories of the Yueyang Tower andthe traditional style street, then the concept of the elements of cultural mood,objective assessment the traditional style streets of the Yueyang Tower.Chapter V analysis the constituent elements of the cultural mood and thetraditional style streets of the Yueyang Tower’s case, summed up the mood creatingtraditional style commercial street culture should follow the five basic principles, theauthor proposes three strategies: to create a cultural mood of the imagerebirth.cultural reconstruction, remodeling mood.The author looks forward to the thesis can enlighten urban managers, planners,architects. And providing some feasible advice and guidance role for the traditionalstyle commercial streets’ planning and design.
