Analysis Of The Characteristics And Spatial-Temporal Differences Of Urban Human Settlement Environment In China

The construction of urbanization in the stage of accelerating development in China. Theurban human settlement environment is a measure of the urbanization development level is animportant standard for ordering and is the foundation of further development of urbanization,but it also decide if it can be guarantee of the process of urbanization well and quickly.Therefore, research the quality features of urban human settlement environment and analysisits spatial and temporal differences in characteristics. Revealing the spatial-temporal variationmechanism can accurately reflect the true cause of urbanization as the social, economic,environmental, cultural and many other aspects of the process of changing the dynamic trueaccurate by urbanization causes of society, economy, environment, culture, and many otheraspects of the dynamic change of temporal and spatial process, to judge the rationality of theurbanization development and promote the city development and urban construction hasreality and far-reaching significance.With the method of entropy, the urban human settlement environment quality of286cities is analyzed. The method of entropy can avoid the subjectivity of artificial weight andthe information overlap between indexes, and is widely used in social and economic studies.According to the connotation of urban human settlement environment quality. This paperestablished an evaluation system of urban human settlement environment being constituted byfour first-level indexes as standard, which is social economic environment, living condition,infrastructure and public service environment, natural ecological environment, and28second-level indexes. With the method of entropy, the urban human settlement environmentquality of286cities at prefecture level and above in2000,2003,2006,2009is analyzed.The results include:(1) The urban human settlement environment overall quality is gradually improving, theurban human settlement environment quality gap between the cities is gradually reducing, andthe change of each city ranked is keeping in a certain range; the differences of urban humansettlement environment quality level are significant, cities of level three, level four and levelfive account for a great proportion, It shows that the most of cities urban human settlementenvironment construction is at a low development level. The process of urban humansettlement environment should be evaluated comprehensively, it could provide decision-maki ng departments with scientific suggestions and keep the sustainable development of the urbanhuman settlement environment.(2) The spatial differences of the urban human settlement environment is obviously inChina. The urban human settlement environment quality is higher in eastern region, and thecostal areas have higher grades compared with the inland. The eastern region has advantagesboth in the number of cities of the first three levels and in the proportion in different regions.Cities of level three, four and five dominate the central region, and level five and six thewestern region. the economy is not deciding factor,but the main factor caused of thedifferences of urban human settlement environment, and is the prerequisite of improve urbanhuman settlement environment. Therefore, promote the economic development and improvethe urban economic strength is still the main development direction for cities. Cities in centraland western region should draw on the experience in the eastern region during the process ofurban human settlement environment. The eastern city continue to improve the urban humansettlement environment and create "people-oriented" best resident environment.(3) The cities of higher urban human settlement environment quality are distributed in theform of agglomeration, fitting well with the urbanization in China. There is correspondingrelation between urbanization quality and urban human settlement environment quality, thelevel of urbanization is higher,the urban human settlement environment quality is higher,conversely, the urbanization level is lower, the urban human settlement environment quality islower.(4) The bigger the better is not correct regarding urban human settlement environmentquality. There is no corresponding relation between urban human settlement environmentquality and city size, and the quality of many small scaled cities is higher than that of bigcities. This means that city development should be coordinated with local conditions, and theprocess should be human-oriented, serving human production and life, and not pursuing theexternal scale.(5) The process of urbanization is unbalanced, and many aspects need to be improved.Cities with higher grades have not been developing comprehensively, and ecologicalenvironment, infrastructure, public service, urban and rural gap don’t develop sufficiently.This means many aspects of the process haven’t got enough attention and investment, needingthe elimination of the short boards to achieve the comprehensive improvement of urbanhuman settlement environment quality.
