Motor dump trucks are important construction vehicles in open mine. In the past decade, domestic economic prosperity ensues increasing demands on iron mine and coal mine, therefore, the large capacity and high efficient motor dump trucks gradually become main rolein transporting mine at open mine area, bearing nearly40%of the world’s coal,90%of theiron ore mining and transporting. In mainland China, over ten large-scale open mines usingmotor dump trucks that loaded above100metric tons.Steering system is one of the most important control system of motor dump truck. Dumptruck’s large weight and load makes its steering load correspondingly large, plus thecomplexity of the open mine road, driver needs to steer constantly. Thus the motor dumptruck must have a reliable, flexible, and powerful steering performance. Instead of usingmechanical connection between steering wheel and steering axel, hydraulic steering systemapplies hydraulic pipes and hoses, and this makes the hydraulic steering system compact, easyto install, layout, and manipulate. The first chapter made a brief introduction to motor dump truck and the developmenttrends and researching situation of hydraulic steering system. Clarified the research contentsand methods of the paper. Then the following chapter analyzed the structure and workingprinciple of the hydraulic steering system, determined a hydraulic steering system designsolution, calculated and designed the main hydraulic components of the hydraulic system. Thethird chapter established hydraulic component simulation model with AMESim andassembled them to get the hydraulic steering system simulation model. The fourth chapteranalyzed the system simulation model under different inputs and made explanations. In theend, this paper summarized the research contents, found out the inadequacies and lookedahead the next possible work and future research.
