Testing method for earthquake resistant building is an important research direction in thefield of structural engineering and earthquake engineering. On the other hand, with thedevelopment of computer science, finite element software accumulated some experience insolving nonlinear problem of the structure, but because of the complexity of the earthquakemechanism and structure response under the earthquake, there are some difficulties tosolve these problems well only with finite element analysis software or structure seismictest solely. Therefore, hybrid simulation with finite element analysis is proposed, this paperbuilt a hybrid simulation systems which is based with MTS electric hydraulic servo system, and experimental studies was did with this system, details are as follows:(1) The conventional seismic test methods were summarized, the latest progress of theseismic hybrid simulation is introduced. Described the basic principles based on the finiteelement seismic hybrid simulation.(2) By application OpenFresco hybrid simulation platform, with the existing testequipments in Suzhou University of science and technology-Jiangsu province keylaboratory of structure engineering, through integration systems and reduce the degrees offreedom of the test reasonably, the finite element software was combined with physicallaboratory equipment, a hybrid simulation system was constructed based MTS electrichydraulic servo system and is experimentally verified through a seismic test of a portalframe conducted. Compared with finite element analysis, the result verified the accuracyand stability of this hybrid simulation system.(3) Initial stiffness parameters of the test object in the hybrid simulation were studied, itwas proved that the initial stiffness of the test object was setting too large or too smallwould be some impact on the seismic response of the overall structure in the previous stageof the reaction, but the impact of different initial stiffness decreased with the increase inthe number of test steps.(4) Using the established seismic hybrid simulation system, a test carried out along thehorizontal direction on a two-storey single span steel framework, through the seismicresponse of four different cases, the hysteresis curve of the test proved that the hybridsimulation system based MTS achieved the displacement calculated by finite elementsoftware accurately, the finite element software and the physical test control systemcollaborated well, and the data exchanges smoothly.
