| With the rapid development of information technology, nowadays in such an era it isexactly in a phase of constantly accelerating advancement. Informationization promoted bythe development and application of information technology has a profound and widespreadinfluence on human economy and social progress. Human beings have already lived in asociety surrounded by various information terminals, where digital production tools andconsumer terminals are widely used. Information has already been one of indispensableelements in the human life of contemporary society. The Internet of Things, known as thethird wave of global information industry, has become the pivot point as well as commandingheights in next new round competition of information technology.These days a hot wave in Internet of Things development spreads around China andsome Chinese enterprises have already launched appliances based on the techniques ofInternet of Things, such as Internet of Things air conditioner and washing machine. However,they have not appeared in common households yet as appliances which can truly influencepeople’s lifestyle. As nowadays there are few kinds of Internet of Things appliances, it is stillnecessary to implement the shortage in the genre of appliances in order to form acomprehensive Internet of Things appliance system among all household appliances. Besides,the support of a system network outside the household and related technique as well as thecooperation with various industry sectors such as IT and telecommunication are also required.In terms of the current market, demand and related technical support in China, the Internet ofThings appliances are still in the early phase of commercialization.The previous design of household appliances emphasizes the appearance, function,interface and human-machine interface scale, however, the product design of Internet ofThings appliances pays more attention to system recognition. During the process of productdesign, the central goal of designers switches from the original single product to productsystem, which not only consists of numerous subsystems but also is the part, element andcomponent of a larger system. Thus, we need to change our limited recognition that productdesign is technique and method, and consider product design as a system.‘The vitality ofsystem exists in his exchange of energy, substance and information with the environment.System aging is due to the decline in the function, unreasonable structure and inadaptability tothe change in outer environment.’Based on self-organization theory, this article makes analysis and comparisons oftraditional household appliances and Internet of Things appliances, especially emphasizingthe research on the product system of household appliances and corresponding system ofproduct design. It is necessary to find out the crucial design element and goal in the product system of Internet of Things appliances in order to clearly summarize the systematic conceptavailable to the product design for the information appliances with the application of Internetof Things technology. In the same time we analyze the three system features above andprovide referable evidence for the product design of Internet of Things appliances. |
