The progress of technology makes the homogenization of products become more and more intensified,and the introduction of product family design method has become a hot topic in the world.As people's requirements for quality of life gradually improved,the small household appliance industry came into being.Because of the limitations of the function,the emotional characteristics of the appearance become a major reference for users to select products,How to use product family strategy to manage the small household appliances systematically,build a communication channel between the designer and the user has become a research direction of small household appliances design.Taking PHILPS electric shaver as an example,a product family characteristic design system is constructed.Then,make a practice of product family design.First of all,using the analytic hierarchy process,let the people with design background identified the main features of the product family components through the layers of the groups.Combined with representative products of product family,the product family morphological factor and color characteristic factor were extracted,encoded and summarized.To form a representative product family factor library.Secondly,obtain the perceptual vocabulary related to the product family characteristics,the research adopts semantic difference method,allowing the user to feature the importance of each style intention of the evaluation,get the contribution value of each characteristic component to different style intention.And then let the users evaluate the emotional image of the feature factor,the product family characteristic perceptual cognition rating scale was got after the data analysis.Based on this,according to the target demand,create a base prototype for a new product design.Finally,combine all of the above analysis,establish small household appliance Product Family Characteristic Design System,guided by this system,carry on the new product design practice of Philips electric shaver.After the user's perceptual image evaluation of the new product,Verify the availability of the system.
