As the initial stage of the China’s nine years of compulsory education, elementary schools education plays a vital role in the children’s physical and mental growth and development. With the proposal of quality-oriented education, the national primary schools have implemented the teaching reform in different degree, but the reforms of the teaching space lag. Therefore, it becomes the focus of educators and designers that how to make the building space of elementary schools match the quality of teaching activities better.Based on the background of the quality education, the paper selects the regular teaching units’space of the elementary schools as the research object. First, the paper analyses the development of educational theory and teaching space, and thus, has a more profound understanding on the quality education of our country. Secondly, through investigating part of the quality education experimental primary schools in Beijing, the dissertation analyses the schools space and the users’demands, to summarize the problems and experience of teaching units space. Finally, combining the outstanding examples at home and abroad, the thesis puts forward the principles of designing teaching units’space, adapting to primary schools quality education, trying to provide reference for the primary school architectural design in the future.
