Because the rear axle and engine of vehicle are very heavy, it is necessary to use specialequipments to convey and lift them for assembly assistants. To lower the high labor intensity andimprove the production efficiency during the process of the manufacture in the vehicle generalassemble line, many domestic vehicle production factories use AGV(shorted for AutomatedGuided Vehicle) as the conveying and lifting equipment for rear axle and engine assemblyassistant. As a kind of highly automatic and advanced technical equipment, AGV meets therequirement of rear axle and engine conveying and lifting in the vehicle assembly line. However,there are high maintenance cost, high repair rate and maintenance difficulty problem of AGVwhich responsible for the conveying and lifting the rear axle and engine in SGMW chassis lineduring the process of using, maintenance and management.To deal with these problems, this article researches a kind of RGV system which integratesconveying and lifting function and can be used for replacing the AGV. The allocation center is thecentral control board. Via information interchange, every RGV which are supplied power andguided by the track, are controlled according to the preset program to take series of automaticactions like conveying, lifting, moving slowly, waiting, moving fast and so on. This system is inaccordance with AGV in the function of production. So it can be used for substituting for AGV asthe assistance equipment system of rear axle, engine assembly in the vehicle production line. Thisdesign has been used by SGMW in the production successfully. The difficulty and the cost ofmaintenance is lower than before and the Direct Run Rate of production is improved.According to the main line of the RGV development project process, this article expoundsthe specification of requirement, overall planning, function design firstly, and then mentions thissolution is used actually in the production line of SGMW.
