Research On The Application Of "3P" Tool In The Construction Of New Production Line

3P (Production Preparation Process) is one of the kit tools of Achieve Competitive Excellence, which is the standard Operation management system of United Technologies Corporation and its subsidiaries.ACE philosophy was a fusion of TQM and LEAN in UTC, developed to the Quality management system and the Standard Operation System which contains12main management tools.3P tool will be used in new product design stage, focused on how to make up the production system when the new plant will be set up or the new product will be produced in the factory. The aim is to design a production line which can fulfill UTC requirement about the world class manufacturing principle, and make sure the factory can produce high quality product under expected cost, schedule and customer demand.The method of system analysis that qualitative analysis integrated with quantitative was adopted. First of all, a requirement of improving current workshop layout and setting up a new production line from Shanghai Carrier Transicold Co., Ltd under UTC group is brought out.3P theory is applied as a basis to adjust current production line layout and a new production line was designed after systematical and complete analysis of TAKT time of production line, process chart, standard operation instruction, control plan, FMEA, balance of assembly line and logistics model. The feasibility and progressiveness of3P theory is proved through the practice in Shanghai Carrier Transicold Co., Ltd. A conclusion was achieved that standardization and streamline of production line and applying continuously3P theory with ACE operation management system is critical and essential to maintain competition in the market in the long run of the whole UTC group.
