Human’s excessive exploitation and construction for a long time has led to theenergy crisis and the ecological crisis. The advent of those crises has initiatespeople’s thinking about sustainable development.With the research results about thetheory of sustainable development published, sustainable architecture emerges as thetimes require, which is being accepted by more and more people and graduallybecoming the mainstream of contemporary architecture. Primary and Middle schools,as supporting service facilities of residential areas, are being built extensively withthe accelerating urbanization process and increasing residential areas. Based on thisbackground, this thesis is to study how to plan and design sustainable primary andmiddle schools buildings, maximizing saving resources and protecting environment,so as to realize the sustainable development of primary and middle schools buildingsin zones hot in summer and cold in winter.The thesis divides five chapters, which respectively conduct the analysis andresearch on planning and design of sustainable primary and middle school buildingsin zones hot in summer and cold in winter from different aspects.Chapter one is prolegomenon: first, proposes the object and the significance ofthe topic research; then, elaborates the present research status at home and abroadabout sustainable architecture; finally makes clear about the content and the methodof research, thus builds the research framework of the thesis.Chapter two firstly points out the features of primary and middle schoolsbuildings; then analyzes the existing shortages in campus architecture planning anddesign, taking primary and middle schools buildings in Changsha as the researchobject. Based on this point, this thesis puts forward building sustainable campus ofprimary and middle schools in hot summer and cold winter zone.Chapter three analyzes the factors that influence the design of sustainablecampus buildings in primary and middle schools, such as regions, education ideas,and design concepts and so on. Besides, this chapter puts forward the dominant role ofregions and educational ideas among many influencing factors.Chapter four firstly puts forward some guiding principles in planning and designof sustainable primary and middle schools campus. Under the guidance of the fiveprinciples, the thesis explores three aspects in the zone hot in summer and cold inwinter, namely sustainable campus planning, single design of buildings and the construction of sustainable campus education demonstration base.Chapter five chooses to analyze planning and design of Mei xihu Middle Schoolbuildings in Changsha, so as to sum up the method and technology that can be used inthe planning and design of sustainable primary and middle schools buildings in zoneshot in summer and cold in winter, and thus provides theoretical guidance and practicalexperience for the future planning and design of primary and middle schools buildingsin this area.
