Based on the investigation and research and according to substantive characteristicsof the place theory, This article studies the public-communication place pattern of phylicsettlements—the most typical traditional vernacular landscape, and works out theresearch framework which mixed both macro spatial pattern and micro communicationbehavior. First of all, three traditional villages which have the similar geographicalconditions, size and development status are chosen as the subjects, and foundation surveyson macro geographical conditions, history, layout of Settlements form as well as micropeople communication behavior have been done to support the macro spatial patternanalysis of its spatial dimensions (plan, section, function) and time dimensions (changesof space and function). And then the research make a micro communication behavioranalysis not only on the relationship among public-communication place’s macro structure,structure element, core contact area and people’s contact behavior, but also on the differentcommunication activities and different age people. Aiming to analyzepublic-communication place’s inner mechanism based on sociology, the article definesnature force such as geographical conditions, climate environment, and social force suchas political factors, economical factors, technological factors, fengshui, phylic sense,etiquette sense and private ownership mentality, in order to make a force analysis of thethree subjects and summarize the course of public-communication spatial pattern. in theend, the article summarizes the whole research on macro, medium and micro levels, andpoints out some enlightenments about how to build public-communication place inmodern human settlement.
