| Wenxuan Meditation Center is a Buddhism Meditation Center in forest. It islocated about50kilometers northeast to Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar. Themain purpose of this design is to provide outdoor space with a high comfort level to themeditators of high sensibility under the tropical monsoon climate which has verydifferent dry and wet seasons.With the spread of the idea sustainability, design with climate has become animportant principle of environmental-friendly design. It is a basic requirement of habitatenvironment to create a comfortable microclimate. The regional climate is thebackground of microclimate. We should develop the advantages of regional climatewhile weaken its disadvantages with reasonable design techniques, to create acomfortable microclimate with low energy cost.Contemporary landscape design sometimes focus too much on the aesthetic needwhile overlooking the climate and microclimate elements. The unsuitable techniquesand physical characteristics of the materials has lead to low comfort level of landscape.Many outstanding gardens had combined and fulfilled the requirements offunctions, aesthetics and microclimate design at the same time. This thesis studies thecommon microclimate design techniques in gardens under similar climate conditions byanalyzing the theories and the cases.Besides, CFD Simulation is used to compare the influence of different vegetationstructure and arrangement, on the basis of the finished study on thermal environment ofthe area of building environment.After studying the previous two sections, this thesis analyses the temperature andhumidity conditions the different seasons (Hot, wet and cool seasons) of Yangon indetail, compares them to the requirements of human comfort zone, and concludes thegoals and strategies of microclimate design for different seasons. The final plan which suits the local conditions is reached by combining and balancing the seasonal plans, tosolve the problems of sunshine, ventilation, wet and dry seasons. |
