The Feasibility Study Of Embankment Filling With High Liquid Limit Soil Directly In The Condition Of Tropical Rainy Climate

The high liquid limit soil has these features:the moisture content is high,the liquidlimit is high,the plastic index is great and the water stability is poor.In view of thephysical mechanics and engineering properties,if using it for filling subgradedirectly,there will be leading to a series of disease, such as compacting the filled soildifficuiltly and slope collapse.Therefore, it is very important for highway constructionthat we have the system to research about filling subgrade directly with high liquid limitsoil and solve the problems above with some environmetal and sparing ways.In this paper, We basing on the high liquid limit of the red clay highwayconstructioning in Haikou Tunchang, carried out laboratory and field test and exploredthe feasibility of the red clay of high liquid limit practicability of constructingembankment in the condition of Hainan’s tropical climate. In the test, We sectionedacquisition of undisturbed and disturbed samples, respectively test the basic physicalnature , the material composition, the dry and wet compaction, CBR, consolidation, aswell as soil-water characteristic curve, analysis of a sample of soil characteristics andengineering characteristics, evaluated its road performance, finally came to a high liquidlimit soil filling critical moisture content.Through making statistics of Hainan tropicalrainy climate, we found out the Hainan region of high liquid limit soil embankmentconstruction period, and combined with field Fanshai test, analysis of Hainan high liquidlimit of the red clay can be filling the high liquid limit of expansive soil is difficult tofilling the reasons: high liquid limit of expansive soils to hold water can strong, air-driedtoo slow, difficult to achieve the construction conditions in the the Hainan rainy climaticconditions.The expansive soil classification method based on packing, through thenumerical simulation make the process to soil water characteristic curve fittingparameters n control parameters, puts forward the tropical climate with more rain underthe condition of high liquid limit soil can directly filling embankment new index.Through to the fessibility research about filling subgrade directly with high liquidlimit soil in rainy climate,this article has these innovate points:based on the model of soiland atmosphere intaracting,it makes numerical simulation method for turning over thepacking；it makes the standard and method for the choice of the high liquid limited filledsoil in the tropical climate as the index to soil characteristic curve“n”.They have guidingsignificance for filling subgrade with high liquid limited soil in the special climate for the future.
