The Intensive Design Of Secondary School Projects

China is in a period of rapid development. With intensive urbanization and thecontinuing reforming of secondary education, more and more constructionprojects of Secondary School appear. They are new projects or reconstructionprojects. Those projects face the problems of land-saving, and in those projectswe need to provide more efficiency space for the Secondary School. Especiallyin those large cities, there are more restraining factors of land problems.Due to land issues and rapid development of education, the designing works ofsecondary school projects are in profound challenges. The problem of land–saving becomes the most important problem of the Secondary Schoolrenovation projects. In those projects, more effective methods must be foundand used, in order to effectively integrate the campus space and solve thoseproblems about land-saving and education development.This paper is based on the process of practice in Beijing Institute ofArchitectural Design. By the designing work of the projects about SecondarySchool, some methods which can save more land of school and improveefficiency of space are coming clearly. Those methods and ways can make theworks of modern school projects more intensive.The paper first analyzes the current situation of Chinese urban development andthe situation of secondary education development, to find out the impactfactors of the Secondary School designing works. Point out that it needs tointroduce more intensive design techniques to solve the problems aboutconstruction and development of Secondary School buildings. Then the paperanalyzes the situation about the Secondary School space now, and summarizesthe basic patterns of the current secondary school design. On this basis, searchout some effective methods of land-saving and space utilization improving. Inthe process of the designing works of The Affiliated High School of PekingUniversity, some way of how to use those methods in real projects were found. Two major aspects about those designing works are important, first aspect isto integrating functions, and second is to creating flexible space. In addition,according to the technical problems arising from the use of specific methods,some solution methods are point out. Finally, conclude: on the one handintensive design techniques should be used to solve design problems of theSecondary School buildings, the other hand, negative factors should be avoidedin this process, to design school campus well.
