Bridge cranes are widely used in factories, workshops and warehousesfor loading and unloading. Cranes play an important role in iron and steelproductions, participating in the specific process operations, lifting a varietyof products such as iron、steel、scrap steel、slab, tracking and recordinggoods position. The environment characteristic of carne is used frequently onhigh-level in a bad condition. With the rapid development of steel industry, communication of cranes is required to be more efficient and more stable. There had been a high failure rate on the communication system sincethe cranes came into the service in1998in the area of Baosteel. The factorswhich are long-time recovery、equipment ageing、poor stability affected thenormal production. It is required to design an advanced crane communicationsystem to meet the needs of production. This article, with the object of cranesin the area of Baosteel, aims the study for a crane wireless communicationcontrol system, and establishes the corresponding software and hardware system.1. The characteristics of wireless communication was compared in terms ofthe features and environment, after which the data conversion method andwireless communication method were determined in order to make theoverall control system.2. Singlechip was studied, by considering system component、hardwarecircuit、 software architecture and software program, by using antiinterference technology, ground station subsystem was designed andcorresponding software was programmed.3. Wireless network technology was applied, and wireless communicationsubsystem was designed. The communication connection between cranesand host was established rapid and reliable to realize dispatchingoperation.4. The information exchange middleware (XCOM) which was researchedand developed by the company independent was used, crane stationsubsystem was designed, and the interface design of monitoring terminalwere accomplished.
