Nowadays safety of maritime navigation has been more and more international attention.Emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) is quite an important device for helpwhen emergencies happen. So it is important to use EPIRB tester to commit reliabilitydetection and maintenance.In this paper, an EPIRB tester system based on the Android system is proposed, while theAndroid system includes the signal processing unit and the control unit. Given DSP’spowerful calculation ability, ARM’s good control performance and Android’s portability, thisdesign has full function and remarkable human-computer interaction.At the beginning, the theory of software radio and Android system structure is introduced,and EPIRB tester system is designed at the same time according to the features that howEPIRB transmits signals.Then the demodulation algorithm for signal processing unit is brought up in details.According to the features of two-way L-modulated signal and the functions that EPIRB needto complement, the carrier wave is extracted by FFT and software Costars algorithm, whichcan shorten the carrier tracking time and enhance measurement accuracy. The EPIRB signal isdemodulated after that. Software simulation for demodulation algorithm is performed, and theresults indicate that the algorithm proposed is correct that it can satisfy the high-precisionfrequency measurement and demodulation demands.After all, the Android embedded systems is well lucubrated. The transplantation on thehardware platform and EPIRB tester program are developed elaborately. Android systemtransplantation expands from two parts: kernel and file system. As for system programwhich is in MVC pattern, it is described from three aspects: the model layer, the view layerand control layer.
