Normally, ship structural design is carried on after ship preliminary design, inaccordance with certain principal dimensions, lines plan, general arrangement and designspecifications. In this design phase, the main work is to analyze and compare the wholedesign principle according to approved specifications, for example choices of hull materials,and major technical measures, etc., estimate the arrangement and scantling of primarymembers, draw midship section plan, and make steel weight estimate sheet. Criterion checkand direct strength analysis, in accordance with classification society rules are required fordesign aspects decided by ship structural design.In this paper, the following aspects are studied:1. Advantages and disadvantages of most common CAD software are compared.Appropriate secondary development platform is selected, on which ship structural designsystem is developed.2. Topology relationship between ship structural design model and preliminary designmodel and their data structure are discussed. Ship structural design models are developed tomeet the requirement of3-D arrangement in initial structure design phase. User interface isdesigned.3. Criterion design module based on Rules for Classification of Sea-going Steel ships2006(hereafter referred as the Rules) is developed. Scantling of structural members isoffered according to the calculation results as required by the Rules. User interface ispresented.4. Format of intermediate files is studied according to data structure of ship structuraldesign model. Intermediate files are generated.5. Interface program is developed to convert ship structural design models to FE modelby using the finite element analysis software MSC.Patran and its PCL language. |
