Brick, stone and concrete are collectively referred to as a masonry,a masonry arch bridge is constructed of masonry materials. Masonryarch bridge is mainly subjected to axial pressure arch or arch rib bridgeas the main load-bearing components. Because of its unique forcecharacteristics, masonry arch bridge can take full advantage of thecompressive properties of masonry materials and tensile strength ofinadequate performance. Masonry arch bridge with the unique advantageis simple and cheap. In human history a lot of masonry arch bridges areconstructed, from the Roto bridge in the Roman period, ZhaoZhoubridge in the Sui Dynasty to the Dan River Bridge. The masonry archbridges play the important role in the development of human society.Around the world since ancient times many masonry arch bridges werebuilt。Some bridges still work now, they should face the collapse of thesecurity risks, it is necessary to give the masonry arch bridgecomprehensive analysis with the model test and advanced finite elementanalysis.Study at home and abroad on the basis of the collapse of masonryarch bridge,and make the masonry arch bridge model tests, as well asAbaqus means of numerical simulation to explore and analyze,finanllywe draw some useful results. Major research activities were:(1) Describe the development history of the masonry arch bridge and the research situationarch of bridge model test at home and abroad.(2) Through two sets of model experiment, we analyze the archstrain of masonry arch bridges under vertical loads, displacement ofdome deflection and the pier level. And we have the discussion about thecollapse mechanism of the model bridges under the final loading(3) Through the ABAQUS finite element analysis softwaresimulation, we conduct deeply discussion on the working properties ofthe masonry arch bridge, the test block and test block contact by frictionduring the simulation, and the simulation of the arch cracks and jointsappear with model test results of good agreement, verify the correctnessof simulation(4) We study the application of the component importanceevaluation theory. The distribution of importance coefficient of thetwo-span masonry arch bridge under the test load is further studied, andthen the author of this paper compares the results with the experimentalstructure. At the same time, bridge failure mode of the two-spanmasonry arch bridge is also revealed in the importance coefficientdistribution.
