A number of potential hazards induced by the damages of bridges occur intransportation in China, these bridges built in early days was not in good quality conditionsbecause of much longer service time and overloading conditions, measures must be taken torebuild or reinforcement these old bridges in order to met the requirement of road upgrades.A lot of masonry arch bridges were built in the sixties and seventies in China, if completelydemolish or reconstruct them, it means not only works great, impact on traffic, also hugeeconomy burden. The masonry arch bridge structure itself has certain potential carryingcapacity, if make good use of them, take appropriate methods to reinforce them, recover thetransformation, there will be great value of both economy and function.This subject summarize the use conditions and the problems of the inner sheathed archmethod according to the existing studying and the related literatures, relying on the actualproject, according to the on-site measurement data, use the numerical analysis softwareMATLAB to fit the arch axis of the original bridge, then analysis the external factors andaffects of the arch axis change. Different from the conventional finite element method, thisarticle use the discrete element modeling calculation method to modeling and analysis of themasonry arch bridge. So the modeling of the characteristic of the material and structure aremore accurate, according to the calculation results, the method to judgment stone arch bridgeremaining potential carrying capacity was carried out, this method can be used to test thesame type of masonry bridges and culverts.Inner sheathed arch method is an effective reinforcement of small and medium-spanmasonry arch bridge. This method does not interrupt traffic, It is not difficult to construct,affordable, and has good economic effect. It is often used to deal with the disease stone archbridge. This method is not perfect in present, there are no sufficient basis theoretical todetermine the remaining carrying capacity of the original bridge, no clear judgment of thereinforced effect of the combination of old and new arch ring, no feasible method to weightthe composite arch ring bearing capacity. Therefore, we can not accurately choose the thickness when doing the reinforcement design, and there are no correspondingspecifications of its detailed provisions, the only way is to refer to empirical formula.The analysis of this article bases on the reference to the highway bridge reinforcementdesign specifications. By analysis secondary superimposed stress, and explore appropriatemethods of checking the bearing capacity of stone arch bridge, analysis the change ofbearing capacity of the combined reinforcement arch ring, and the combine ability of thenew and old arch ring. Over the above study, make the verification and theoretical analysisof the inner sheathed arch method, optimize the empirical formula of arch ring thicknessdesign, and take the discrete element method to build model and checking calculation.Summarized and elaborated the principle, applicable conditions, construction methods andprecautions of the inner sheathed arch method, perfect internal sets arch ring reinforcementstone arch bridge reinforcement. Improved the inner sheathed arch method.
