Safety Assessment And Strengthening Of Masonry Arch Bridge Board

Masonry arch bridge has many advantages, such as:local materials, saving steel and concrete, simple structure, universal benefit, large bearing potential and less maintenance cost, and so on. So masonry arch bridge has been widely used in the central and western regions of China because of there terrains, which plays an important role to ease the traffic pressure. However, in recent years, with the constant rising of the load levels, more and more masonry arch bridges have appeared some damage with various degrees, such as inadequate bearing capacity, and so on, which seriously affects the development of transportation, therefore, to reinforce, reconstruct and utilize these old and dangerous bridges vigorously is a very important and significant work. For this situation, this paper does the following researches:This paper introduces, analyzes and classifies the common diseases of the arch and its causes; and then it studies the content and methods of detection, the common diseases and their causes, and the common reinforcement methods. At last, this paper elaborates the principles and contents of arch bridge reinforcement, and highlights the increasing section method in the bridge reinforcement.Increasing section reinforcement method is generally divided into two methods:one is the increasing part section reinforcement; the other is the increasing whole section reinforcement. As different ways have different reinforcement characteristics and effects, we should choose a reasonable way according to the concrete circumstances of the arch reinforcement. In the example of a certain arch in Liangshan, Sichuan province, according to the test data of the arch, this paper calculates and contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of the above two methods, and then puts forward some reasonable suggestions that may have practical reference value to the reinforcement of this kind of arch.By detecting and evaluating the arch, this paper renovates the common diseases, and then chooses a reasonable reinforcement method combined with the concrete circumstances of the arch, to improve the carrying capacity of the arch and the traffic capacity of road transportation, which has an important significance on the highway development in China.
