On the one hand, the present studies concentrated on the features and requirements of architectural design of rehabilitation center for deaf children. Various problems such as site planning, architectural layout, forms, function compositions and room design are examined by comparing rehabilitation center for deaf children and other facilities such as kindergartens. On the other hand, by focusing on planning layout and scale control of rehabilitation center for deaf children in urban areas, we made some suggestions about ways of scale control, standards of the area count and proportion of each part. Finally, specific methods for rehabilitation center from layout planning, scale establishing to room design, details and utilization are proposed. The construction of rehabilitation center for deaf children is a systematic engineering which compromises various subjects. However only a few domestic studies have been done to research the rehabilitation center from the perspective of architecture, and research on relevant facilities for handicapped children is not enough. In the context of a nationwide architecture practice, it is necessary and urgent to do some research on rehabilitation center for deaf children from an architectural point of view and it will bring an immediate, direct effect. The present study will not only provide guidance to domestic constructions of rehabilitation center for deaf children, but also it will be instructive to rehabilitation buildings for other types of handicapped children.
