When driving at night, many accidents are caused by the lighting system. The real reason is traditional lighting system which is difficult to provide driver visibility as clear as the day, so how to solve the security of the car which caused by the traditional lighting systems has become an important subject. Adaptive Front-lighting System(AFS) is a new active safety devices which is based on traffic and environmental information to make the right decision, and can automatically adjust the position of the headlamps light’s body. The whole system includes two subsystems which are the headlights left-right control system and headlights up-down control system. In the horizontal direction, the whole system must realize the body of light looked around with the corners when driving in the corners. In the vertical direction, the system must complete the body of lights up and down with the body of car up and down. At present, the domestic research about AFS is relatively late and the technology of AFS is relatively backward, so developed independent technology of AFS have great significance for improving the security of the domestic car and enhancing the international competitiveness of China’s automobile industry.Firstly, this article introduce the causes of the AFS and the research of AFS at home and abroad in detail, and then analyzed the AFS features to determine the structural framework of the AFS. Next, in accordance with the relevant traffic regulations formulated the principles of the AFS.Under this principle the theoretical calculations is established and then created the model of the light beam. Based on this model the article obtained the reference position of the beam. At last combined the stroke and progressive stroke of stepper motor conclude that operating parameters of light body between the different locations.Secondly, this paper introduce the AFS controlling strategy. Describe the controlling method of the headlights in horizontal and vertical direction. In this article control theory is the fuzzy logic rule, and apply fuzzy control module in the MATLAB/SIMULINK and get the final fuzzy control rules. Then this paper introduce the design from the design of circuit and software programming in details. In hardware design, the single-chip, sensors, actuators are selected. Then the paper design circuit schematics by Protel DXP which are power circuit module, the A/D conversion circuit modules, the CAN transceiver circuit module, the stepper motor’s circuit. In the software section, after analyzed the two subsystems the article design a flow chart of the program. At last complete procedures for the function module in the environment of Keil Software, and given relevant program code.
