With the rapid development of the global economy, the number of ships are increasing, atthe same time, the pollution from the ships are worse too. It becomes more important to perfectthe ship sewage monitoring system and to control it. The existing means of ship sewagemonitoring need to install a large number of monitoring equipments. It’s difficult to implementand cost too much. So, it is impossible to be used in a large scale. AIS is a digital aids tonavigation system. And it is a new set of network technology, modern communicationtechnology, computer technology and electronic information technology. Under the mandatory ofIMO Convention, AIS has been widely used. AIS system can provide information about shipidentification number, position, speed, ship status and so on. This information has improved tobe efficient and safe for ship sailing, and beneficial for the study of online ship sewagemonitoring system at harbor.To face the problem of ship sewage monitoring system, this paper has a study of thecharacteristic of the ship information provided by AIS system. It designs a ship sewagemonitoring system based on AIS information, and sets a ship sewage model and proposes harborpartition algorithm based on ship density. In use of ship’s AIS information from AIS base stationand the additional ship parameter information from a online ship database, it can calculate thereal-time ship sewage established by the ship sewage model. Then it starts to overlay calculationbased on the harbor partition algorithm. At last, the results are displayed in the ECDIS.The online monitoring system is based on ECIDS, Visual Studio2005development toolsand SQL Server2005database management system. It has initially realized ship sewage model,harbor partition algorithm, data storage and query of ship sewage and display of the real-timeharbor ship sewage on ECDIS. By using the actual data for debugging, the results show that theonline monitoring system is feasible. And it has achieved good results in the preliminaryapplication.
