With the rapid development of society, the phenomenon of product homogeneity isbecoming more and more serious,"eyeball economy" era, the slow development of domesticindustrial design,how to make the product design innovative,impress consumers,strengthen the brand, that becomes the urgent problem of domestic designers. Productstension design is proposed to solve this problem,which makes the product shape with a strongexpansion force, a strong visual shock to consumers, thereby causing them concern andinterest, resulting in emotional resonance,through the basic design elements. Differentindividual to the perception of tension is difference, so the design requires carefulinvestigation and analysis.The core of the design of product tension is the tension performance. Based on therequirements of the current situation of domestic brands,from the brand differentiation andconsistency two perspectives to discuss tension performance ways and methods. From thedifferentiation angle, the designer can through express the unique characteristics of tension todisplay the tension. It refers to the performance of four aspects, including "force","dynamicbalance, standing in motion" and "tipping point","pain" transformed aesthetic feeling. Toexpress "live" tension, the designer must originate from the rich experience of life,accumulate more experience. Tension modeling breakthrough conventional, at the same time,easy to produce negative influence, and difficult to produce. In the design process, thedesigner can through the "direct weaken","evolvement transformation","transition buffer","distraction" and other methods to weaken or eliminate the possible negative effects. Tensiondesign need free space, but it after all belong to product design, must follow some principleincluding function first, reasonable operation, meet the emotional needs,meet a certainregional folk culture, and to pay attention to detail design. Tension modeling has extensibility.Designer can extract the recognition characteristic elements of tension, which coulddevelop into a brand characteristic elements, reflect brand consistency.Under the guidance of the tension design theory and technique of expression, inreference to product design procedure, this paper puts forward the general procedure ofproduct tension design. Finally, through concrete examples, to validate the tensionperformance, the principles and the general design procedures ’ feasibility.
