| The time-domain response of a mooring member (Tension Leg or Tether) of a Tension Leg Platform including the horizontal and vertical excitation due to Tension Leg Platform movement was solved by modal superposition, perturbation method and iterative method. The effect of tension leg member bending stiffness is also investigated. The response of a Tension Leg Platform under wave excitation is studied, and a spectral analysis of the response to random waves is also conducted. The Hutton Tension Leg Platform was used as a prototype throughout the whole analysis except at the fracture of the tension leg. Wave loading is based on the Morison equation and linear wave theory. The SAPIV computer program was utilized to analyze the platform response.; A general method for computing the nonlinear time-domain response of a tension leg to wave excitation is presented. The method can be used for different configurations of tension leg. |
