Guangzhou is a city with more than two thousand years in South China. And it is apolitical, economic and cultural center in South China. Since the reform and opening-uppolicy is carried out, the economy of Guangzhou has been growing steadily. In the late1990s,in the era of social development, the real estate industry in Guangzhou has made greatachievement.However, many of the traditional residential districts constructed in the early1990s areused to meet the needs of daily living. So the functional properties of relatively is simple. AsChina’s planned economy is shifted to a market economy, traditional residential districts,specially located in city business center, face the impact of business activities more and morefrequently. So, the structure of traditional residential districts has been changing in a newsituation.These residential districts focus on the physical form of research, pursuit high efficiencyand perfect functional organization rather than pay attention to human care and residentialexternal space environment. However, with development of society and improvement ofliving quality, people have not only satisfied with the perfect residential external spaceenvironment, but also focused on the social environment development of residential externalspace environment.A famous traditional residential district of Guangzhou is Liuyun residential districts,which is constructed nearby Tianhe Sports Center in1987and used as an athlete’s village forthe Sixth National Sport Game. After the Sixth National Sport Game, Liuyun residentialdistrict was sold to the public as a normal residential district, and a milestone of planning andconstruction in Guangzhou city.It has been more than twenty years since Liuyun residential district was built. In thistwenty years, Liuyun residential district is changing because of the impact of policy andeconomic for many times. Now, Liuyun residential district has changed to a district whichcombines many different functions. At the same time, this kind of combination brings somenegative impact to the district. This phenomenon attracts much discussion and focus fromsociety and media. It is said that, the change of Liuyun residential district is a typical example of city updating development of Guangzhou in the pass twenty years. Meantime, the changeof Liuyun residential district directly leads the thinking about the planning and construction oftraditional residential district.In this paper, Liuyun residential district is used as a study objet. And I tease out the features of thechanges of residential external space environment in Liuyun residential district development, andsummed up the problems of planning structure and living space, and explore transformation strategies forsolving the problems. |
