With the development of social economy and technology, the tall building structure isbecoming more and more higher. The height of structure and the complexity of structurebreak through in new high. China is an earthquake-prone country, so perfect seismic theoryand rational seismic design method are the important guarantee for the safety of buildingstructures. Seismic calculation methods can be divided into static method and the direct powermethod, the most representative are the Response Spectrum Method and the Time HistoryMethod. This article draws extensively on the basis of research results at home and abroad,compares the Response Spectrum Method with Time History Method in the difference ofhigh-level seismic calculation. The study includes the following:1) Based on a real high-rise building structure earthquake calculation, there aredifferences between the Response Spectrum Method and the Time History Method in thecalculation results, the two methods of the base shear and the overturning momentdifferent. The results will be higher when use the Response Spectrum Method to the TimeHistory Method.2) In order to study the Response Spectrum Method and the Time History Methodspecific difference, the article assumes that the class II site soil, group one of earthquake, theseismic intensity of earthquake is seven. Bulid finite element models of the framecorewallstructure of20floors-60floors. Than use ETABS when calculate with Response Spectrum andTime History Method. The Time History Method based on the recommend of Pacific seismicresearch center with31typical seismic waves-time curves. Compare the difference when theheight changes between the Response Spectrum Method and the Time Analysis Method, at thesame time, compare the difference when the Time Analysis Method depending on the contrast7earthquake wave or31seimic waves.The thesis will give the suggestion of the number thathow many seismic waves-time curves is appropriate when use the Time Analysis Method. Thediscrete analysis job of the31seismic waves will be given.3) Through the comparative analysis, Response Spectrum Method is more conservativethan the Time Analysis Method. It is more obvious in the long period of building. Through thecomparative analysis, in order to get the reasonable result, more seismic waves should bechosen, while the suggestion of how to choose the waves will bie given.
