Mo Bozhi’s manuscripts: Survey of Tea-Restaurants in Guangzhou,1957has twoimportant academic value,1) It is historical data of traditional architecture in Guangzhou: itreflects the information of Tea-Restaurants in1950s by manuscripts and text descriptions.2) Itis historical data of research in Mo’s works: the manuscripts reflect how Mo could accumulatehis knowledge and material at the beginning of his architect career, and we can understandMo’s view of analysis for traditional architecture, or find the origins of Mo’s works. Thisthesis finished the systematization and interpretation of the manuscript in connection with thevalue mentioned above.The systematization includes:1) Digitization of drawings involved in manuscripts.2)Information Completion of Tea-Restaurants mentioned by the manuscripts. This thesis showsthe Basic materials, methods, and results during the process of systematization.The interpretation includes:1) Investigation of spatial features of tea-Restaurants by themanuscripts.2) Discussion of how the survey in1956~1957could influence Mo’sarchitectural creation. This thesis analyses Mo’s view of analysis during survey, andinvestigates Mo’s inheritance and innovation from the architectural space of traditionalTea-Restaurants.
