Practical Rationality And Traditional Chinese Architecture

Chinese culture is a relatively independent system. It is ancient and profound. It has lasted for thousands of years and will be handed down from generation to generation. Until now, We are still continuously learning the nutritions from it. Architecture is the product of a national culture, a high concentration of national culture and an important part of national culture. Like chinese culture, traditional Chinese architecture is also coherent, mature and vibrant. It also has tenacious vitalityIn the academic system of Li Zehou, the practical rationality is used to summarize the characteristics of Chinese traditional culture and chinese cultural psychological structure. In this book, I would like to explore the characteristics of the practical rationality in traditional Chinese architecture, with the theoretical basis of philosophy, history of Chinese thought and Chinese traditional aesthetics, combining the research methods of comparative study of chinese and western cultures and taking the practical rationality proposed by Li Zehou as a starting point. I hope that, in this process of exploration,I can grasp the main characteristics of the traditional chinese architecture in the macro-cultural perspective.In the second chapter of this book, I would like to take a systematic description on the concept of practical rationality. Then the discussion will be taken on the relationship between practical rationality and traditional chinese architecture from three aspects—Cognition, Aesthetics and Ethics in the following chapters. In chapter three, it will de discussed on the consistency between traditional Chinese architecture and practical rationality characteristics of traditional chinese universe concept of heaven and earth philosophy. And we will discuss the relationship between chinese classical aesthetics and traditional Chinese architecture. In chapter four, I would like to research how the traditional Chinese architecture embody Ethics hierarchical order. In chapter five, I will think about how the traditional Chinese architecture rationally meet the function requirement. At the end of the paper, it will be taken to discuss the significance of practical rationality on today’s Architecture field and Resolve of the worldwide crisis.
