The technology of bridge health monitoring is a hot research topic in recent years. At present most research work aims at the long-span bridges, but the research for medium and small bridges is relatively rare. While among the urban grade separation bridges, the number of medium and small bridges is very huge. With the increasing importance of urban transport, the technology of health monitoring for overpass is also imminent. The health monitoring system on qianjin street overpass in Changchun is built, relying on the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863Program)<Season frozen area a wide range of road disasters parameter monitoring and identification of early warning systems research>(2009AA11Z104). Structural response of the bridge and the work environment of bridge is monitored, the health status of the bridge is assessed, and a scientific basis for the management and maintenance of the bridge is provided.This article specifically covers the following aspects:Extensive research and review current research status of the domestic and international bridge structural health monitoring systems and theoretical methods is conducted, and the synthesized commentary is done, achievements and the problems of the bridge structural health monitoring are pointed out. Three-dimensional finite element model is set up to monitor the cross-bridge structure, and the force is analyzed, to provide the necessary theoretical guidance for the design of monitoring system. Then the overall design of the Changchun forward Avenue overpass health monitoring is conducted and the monitoring projects of health monitoring system are selected, the composition and function of the health monitoring subsystem are introduced.Analysis and early warning for the bridge health monitoring data are conducted. The construction process data and operational monitoring data are separately analyzed, and the contraction of the strain and creep model based on gray theory are obtained. In regard to the operation bridge, the early warning values of the strain of and mid-span deflection are determined.The assessment approach for the urban grade separation bridges is studied, including final acceptance of construction, static and moving load test and condition assessment of the bridge during operation. The analytic hierarchy process and its application in the bridge health monitoring and condition assessment are elaborated and discussed, and the calculation method of the underlying index weights is determined.This research work provides practical and effective solutions for health monitoring of qianjin street overpass in Changchun, at the same time provides a reference for the similar bridges health monitoring.
