To verify flight parameters and aided landing measures in shipboard weapon system whether meet the requirements of the landing safety or not, a lot of carrier aircrafts landing test must be done. However, there were some high risks in flight tests which caused serious accidents. Based on what have mentioned above, intelligent monitoring and identification system was designed.The background and current development status of research on carrier-based aircraft landing safety system and intelligent video surveillance system was introduced. The system was divided into video capturing module, video processing module and video understanding module.The design and realization of video capture subsystem was accomplished with PD2000EX industrial camera. Started with the design of subsystem, the models of network transmission between front-end and server-end were analysised and capturing function was realized by means of secondary development of SDK software package.The research key point was focused on the design and realization of video processing subsystem. Video processing methods mainly contain moving target detection and moving target recognition. The design of moving target detection was completed through improved background subtraction and three-image difference. Furthermore, the function of moving target recognition was realized by segmentation in view of edge detection and moving object extraction.The function of behavior understanding was realized by the target feature extraction and obtainment of characteristic parameters in the design and realization of video understanding subsystem.Meanwhile, the safety landing process of carrier-based aircraft was realized by technologies of the threat assessment and decision. In the end. experiments were implemented.The simulation video of carrier-based aircraft landing was processed, and the function of video processing and understanding was realized under the Windows environment with the VC++6.0 tool based on the OpenCV1.0. In addition, the design of function modules was completed by virtue of interface design of demonstration platform. Experiment results show that the intelligent monitoring and identification system has some advantages such as real time and accuracy.
