Engineering drawing takes up most of the design cycle time in the process of mechanical product design. Designers need constantly amend the engineering drawing according to the change of the structure during design process. And engineering drawing pattern is very complicated, because there are lots of dimensions and comments need to be marked. The large workload and tedious work will lead to the errors by human negligence increase, the quality of the engineering drawing is reduced and the product design cycle is extended.The work of drawing is tedious, the dimensions and comments in engineering drawing are so many, and the amount of work is large and error-prone. This paper will research from the following aspects:(1) Apply transformation matrix theory of computer graphics and consider the relationship between the3D models and the engineering drawings to generate engineering drawing.(2) The parameter database of the engineering drawing is built according to the relationship model in database principles. Each operation of generation is memory through the dynamic operation linked list.(3) The method carries out engineering drawing by using VB.NET programming language to call corresponding functions of SolidWorks API.This paper takes the example of drum design module in bridge crane intelligent CAD system to explain the methods of view, dimensions, comments mark and the generation of parameters database. Supply the concrete structure of dynamic operation linked lists and command sequence in the system. Thereby realize the assembly drawing of drum group and engineering drawing of various parts output intelligently.The intelligent generation of engineering drawing will greatly reduce the workload of designers, shorten product design cycle, improve the quality and efficiency of drawing, reduce the cost of product design, and ensure the design quality of the product. As a result, it will make the products more market competition and bring a bigger profit for enterprise.
