Guangzhou Passenger Transport Hub Layout Planning Research

Guangzhou, as the national central city and the core city of the Pearl River Delta, has a well developed transportation. Railways, Highways, Waterways, Aviation, Pipeline and other modes of transportation made Guangzhou became the largest hub of the water, land and air transportation in southern China. With the continuous expansion of the cities’scale, as well as the rapid development of various modes of transportation, the problem of Guangzhou’s traffic convergence and coordination between the various modes has became more and more prominent. The efficiency of Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta region’s integrated transport network system is greatly restricted by the status quo level of integrated transport hub facilities and its operating conditions. To sum up, the planning and construction of the integrated transport hub which located in Guangzhou will faces great challenges.Based on the experience and enlightenment which can be learned from the domestic and international integrated transport hubs’ development, the paper contains a depth study of the function, connotation and theory methods of the integrated hub planning. The paper not only presents a summary and analysis of the characteristics of passenger transport hub status quo data in Guangzhou City, but also reveals the predict of its future demand. Combined with the strategies and needs of Guangzhou’s transport development, the paper proposed the "three-level-six-classification" system and the1-nuclear-3-pole" layout structure. The paper researched the functional layout of some of the important hub and made a conceptual layout design program. With all of the research of the Guangzhou Passenger Terminal Layout planning, we hope to provide some guidance and helps to build modern international transport hub for Guangzhou.
