The Yellow River silt is a kind of sediment. The soil of large slope gradient areas in the upper reaches of The Yellow River was scoured to the downstream region and the soil was sedimentary gradually which formed a kind of sediment called The Yellow River silt. Due to lack of effective sediment source control and proper disposal method, the silt was deposited in the river channel immoderately, which endangering the production and life of people living in the coast zone of The Yellow River. In order to rescind the threaten and avoid secondary pollution, this paper intends to explore a scientifically rational method for the treatment of The Yellow River silt, that is analysis the characteristics of The Yellow River silt, according to its character of low activity, this paper use the way of part activation and whole consolidation, in order to find the method of using The Yellow River silt to make clay-based wall material. The purpose of this paper is to produce the same amount of new tape construction material when The Yellow River silt is consumed, in order to reduce the amount of the consumption of the traditional building materials and remit the problems during the process of producing the traditional building materials. The main research contents of this paper are as follows.1. Analysis physicochemical characters of The Yellow River silt from Liu Yuankou which is the downstream region of The Yellow River. Such as misture content, particle gradation, PH value, specific surface area, chemical composition, mineral composition and micro structure. At the same time,it put forward the concept of soil activity and evaluate the activity of The Yellow River silt.2. Optimum selection of the activators:according to different exciting result of different activator, the most suitable species and mix amount of activator was obtained. The result of the experiments proved that sodium silicate and chloral calcium was remixed at a ratio of1:1to from a mixture and then put the mix at a ratio of2%into the soil sample, the properties of soil sample were higher than those had not been activated. The compression strength of the soil sample was improved2%.3. The mix proportion of raw materials to make the clay-based wall material:65%activated soil+8%cement+8.5%lime+8.5%fly ash+10%sand+calcium polyacrylate (1.8%of the activated soil)+bast fiber (0.8%volume fraction of raw material)+polycarboxylic series of water reducer(6‰of the strength of raw material). Clay-based cementitious material was natural curried and was made into Clay-based cementitious material,the Clay-based cementitious material is conform to standard.4. Test the Clay-based cementitious material:The compression strength reach13.92MPa,softening coefficient is0.94. The result of antifreeze is after15times of freeze-thaw cycles the most strength loss is11.9%.,the most mass loss is less than1%. It can conform to the strength standard of common fired brick of GB5101-2003.
