Urban agriculture is an activity happened in cities or areas surrounding the cities including various types. Urban agriculture has three features of society, economy and environment, it is the best strategy which can be possible to supply the choice to maintain the city sustainable development. The modern city has paid the huge price in the process of industrialization, a series of following survival crisis and the ecology crisis grow day by day. The social orientation of energy consumption causes the unsustainable development of modern city, that is why we have the opportunity to review the history, pursues the way from the origin of city which it developed continually. This thesis is for the purpose of through combing to the urban agriculture history system, excavating the development of urban agriculture space in history, and based on the historical experience to provide the theory basis and guidance for contemporary and even the future urban space integrate agriculture.The thesis are divided into major parts basically as follows:The first part, elaborating the development history of urban agriculture and its spatial pattern. The thesis embarks from the angle of urban agriculture type and its spatial distribution, elaborating domestic and foreign urban agricultural development history from ancient to modern time according to the time sequence. The comb of domestic urban agriculture history is mainly to promote with the two clues of history timeline and population. The elaboration of foreign urban agriculture history launches with the Industrial Revolution as the time node, discussed the existence condition of urban agriculture in ancient times and industrial civilization period, especially elaborated western city agriculture development in crisis period in detail. The domestic and foreign urban agriculture spatial distribution are closely related with the human life, domestic urban agriculture spatial pattern in history can be divided into the garden infiltration model and courtyard infiltration mode from the scale. Overseas urban agriculture spatial pattern can be divided into support mode and supply mode from the ancient to modern. The contemporary urban agriculture development is the historic process of regression and renaissance, urban theories as well as realistic factors imperceptibly boosted the agriculture return the city. The second part, summarizing the historical development general rules of the urban agriculture as well as its spatial pattern to inspires the present age.
