Study On Modern Applied And Eastern City Desgin Ideas

The Chinese nation has a long tradition of city design,which models the easterncity design in the world and has the obvious differences with the western city design.There exists unique city design traditions in almost all Chinese historical city, which hasbecome a valuable heritage of city planning,and should be greatly inheritaged anddeveloped. During the Chinese Cultural Renaissance,we should transform the citydesign idea which emphasizes on economical and functional orientation to a morecomprehensive city design,outstand humanistic and cultural orientation, make anorganic injection towards the theories and methods of Chinese native city design in theframework of mordern city design theories.This paper firstly studies the western modern city design concepts. The citydefinitions, categories, elements, and principles are concluded by learning the westernmodern city design theories and methods. From the development of city design and itsimprovement process, the defined city design will be divided into the following fivecatorgeries: attention to the three-dimensional space; artistic treatment; public sphere;functional organization; behavior environment.Then gives the interpretation towards theeastern city design, put forward the belief that the oriental city culture foundation iscomposed of four aspects:Confucianism and Taoism, institutional system, feng shuitheories, and religions. To create a new" golden age" of contemporary Chinese citydesign, the paper also summarizes the basic connotation as well as the basic elements ofeastern city design, and puts forward its significance and task.Based on the characteristic research of the natural environment, humanisticenvironment etc in Xiangyang city, the paper studies deeply the historical development trace, analyzes the spatial morphology of ancient Xiangyang city, and the design ideasand methods of ancient Xiangyang city are summarized as:integrate the essence ofnatural landscape; reveal the elgance of moutains and rivers;protect the traces ofcelebrity;outstand the great architecture;clearly establish functional areas; improve basicfacilities, etc. The paper put the historical experiences of ancient Xiangyang city designinto the design practice of new Panggong district, advocate that the overall thinkingshould be done in some aspects such as: large-scale landscape structure, inheritance andinnovation of the humanity cultural structure, the continuation of history cultral trace.Hope this paper can provide new ideas for the contemporary Chinese city design.
