A Study On The Traditional Thought Of Early-modern City Planning In China

With the fast development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, the constructing work of "City Planning Theory with Chinese Characteristics" becomes an urgent task in the field of city planning at present. However, since the particular development of the early-modern social history in China, the problem of the Continuity and fracture of "Chinese traditional between ancient and modern has become the key of whether we can fully understand the traditional thought early-modern city planning in China. As a subproject of the research on early-modern city planning ideas and based on the wealth of information on the current historical research of modern city planning, the article takes the traditional thought of early-modern city planning in China as the research object. It continues to deepen the concept of "traditional" and boldly puts forward the concept of "neo-traditional ideas of early-modern city planning in China", which were combined with basic viewpoints of historical materialism, some research results on the domestic and international field of humanities and philosophy and typical practices of modern city planning. As well as, it proofs the content and evolution of the traditional thought of early-modern city planning in China from two levels:"practical reason" and "idealism". This paper attempts to find the root of the problem why the current city planning at a loss, and then to find the real source of the contemporary Chinese characteristics from a new understanding of the early-modern tradition.This paper has five parts. First, it analyzes the research of the traditional thought of early-modern city planning in China, and re-defines the main concept category of "tradition" and other core concepts, as well as it puts forward the concept of "neo-traditional ideas of early-modern city planning in China", which Contains two meanings:"Chinese-style western plan thought" and "Modernization of China ancient times traditional though". Secondly, for solving the issue of "classical tradition ideas of early-modern city planning in China" firstly, this chapter combines with other important social thought and ideology, and refines some ideas which has significant impact on modern city planning form five aspects. Next, Starting with modern transformation of our society modern, this chapter which takes "Chinese-style western plan thought" and "Modernization of China ancient times traditional though" as research clue and take two main aspects of "pragmatic reason" and "idealism" as research subject analyzes the neo-traditional ideas of early-modern city planning in China. The fourth chapter selects representative cases to analyzes the traditional thought of early-modern city planning in China. At last, the chapter concludes the main characteristics of the traditional ideas in our early-modern city planning, and analyzes the great value and practical significance of the "neo-traditional" idea aimed for the inadequacies of city planning in the past three decades and the new proposition of "City Planning Theory with Chinese Characteristics" at present.
