Study On Cultural Inheritance Of Dwellings In Guanzhong Region In Contemporary Design

The paper studies from the settlement and buildings of traditional dwellings inGuanzhong region, with a view to traditional cultural inheritance in contemporarydesign, based on the theories of culture, region and epochal character of traditionalcultural connotation, to analyze and research the practical situation of the settlement andbuildings of traditional dwellings, and finally to provide the direction with culturalinheritance, preservation of traditional culture and architectural design of traditionaldwellings in Guanzhong region in contemporary design.The paper developes from four aspects: theory, analysis, research and example, anduses the method of integrating theory with practice to make the project be anexemplification and derive conclusions. First of all, put forward new views of culturalinheritance based on the cogitation on traditional cultural connotation; second, analyzeand illuminate the cultural context of dwellings’ settlement and buildings in Guanzhongregion from macroscopic view and microscopic view; again, explore ways to culturalinheritance of traditional dwellings in contemporary design; finally, make anexemplification of the project that my personal involvement in and summarize theexperience. The whole study has guidance and reference for the contemporaryinheritance of dwellings in Guanzhong region.The full text consists of seven chapters: Chapter1introduces the background and source of the subject, discusses thepurpose and significance of the subject, enumerates the research situation at home andabroad, and puts forward the content and methods of the subject.Chapter2puts forward new views of cultural inheritance of traditional dwellingsbased on architectural culture, region and epochal character, and make them as thetheoretical basis and building bridges to study the cultural context of dwellings’settlement and buildings in Guanzhong region.Chapter3analyzes the cultural context of dwellings’ settlement and buildings inGuanzhong region from macroscopic view based on the previous theories, and derivesfavorable and unfavorable factors of traditional residential development, in order to litthe light for practical architectural creation.Chapter4directes towards study of the settlement and buildings of traditionaldwellings in Guanzhong region from microscopic view, including spatial layout,architectural form and detail, texture and structure model and traditional ecologicaldesign. According to analysis, it can derive the characteristics of residential settlementand buildings and lay the foundation for practical architectural creation.Chapter5collects outstanding architectural examples of existing traditionalarchitectural cultural inheritance to classify, evaluate and analyze according toinheritance’ specific features of architectural three characteristics, and extracts effectiveways of inheritance to guide practice.Chapter6takes the project of the design of Xi’an Taxation School that my personalinvolvement in as an example, and analyzes and proofs the cultural inheritance oftraditional dwellings in Guanzhong region in contemporary buildings’ design fromfollow parts: the overall layout and space environment, plane form and the functionlayout, facade form and architectural form, structure system and detail structure,language symbols and materials’ colour.Chapter7summarizes the practice process of traditional cultural heritage.
