Development Of New 8A-FE Series Of Engine

8A-FE type of engine which we are producing was designed in 1980s in Japan. Implementation of Euro 2 emission standard, since the Euro 3 emission standard will be use in our country,8A-FE type of engine will not fit for the new standard. How to prolong the life of 8A-FE type of engine becomes the most important thing that we faced to.According to the characteristic of the engine, in the need of improve the engine emission and excitation potential of the engine, based on the protection of power and fuel consumption, we study the engine and try t o pr omoting t he technology of the engine. Make it match Delphi control system and fit for the Euro3 emission standard. In the process of our study, consider the feature of the engine, we start our work in the field of design the important paits、chose the important sensors、match the spark system. After these we match the electronic control system; do engine performance test and engine calibration test on test bench. We concentrate our study on the field as follow:1) Change oxygen sensor open-loop control into close-loop control. In order to precise control t he c oncentration o f m ixed g as, fit for the s eriously emission standard.2) Fuel control system changed into no return system. Improved fuel control precision, reduce the cost of our production.3) Catalytic converter changed into the style of tight coupling. Improve the speed of temperature response; reduce the harmful emission in low temperature.4) Add the system of knock control. Make the engine work s afer.5) Add EOBD s ystem. N ew engine c ontrol s ystem m atch t he or der of EOBD, and fit for the emission order of our country.After new engine Development, we do road test of the car. Then we do hot test、cold calibration、plateau calibration、EOBD calibration. Finally we cure the procedure of ECU.Through the test, we improve the procedure of ECU and make the engine meet the requirement. At last we confirm that the new 8 A-FE engine meet the requirement of the emission rule, dynamic property and economy also meet the requirement of the customer’s expectations. We achieve the goals of upgrade.
