| Since reform and opening, the amount of farm houses residential construction grewrapidly with the development of rural economy. However, the rapid growth is of greatspontaneity and blindness for the lack of scientific guidance. The house is new, but thelayout is either conservative or blindly following the urban housing, and follows thesame pattern. On the functional point of view, today’s rural house can’t meet the farmerssynchronize changes in modern life; On the energy saving point of view, comparing tothe traditional houses, brick houses all over the country are open to question. Becausetheir thermal capability falls off, which leads to increased heating and cooling energyconsumption and at the same time, causes a waste of land resources and difficulty ofdealing with a large number of waste generated by the construction. What’s more,because of the characteristics of the rural way of life and economic conditions, thepractice of copying the mature urban housing would bring a range of issues, such asembarrassing resources and environment, and by the economic conditions within a shorttime is unrealistic. Therefore, it seems imminent to search for a path which fit for ruralcommunity and economic development, coordination of agricultural residentialdevelopment.This article discusses houses of central Hunan region. Based on in-depthresearches, this article is to explore building strategies which is appropriate for ruralenvironment, economic and cultural. And then do some design practice to provide somehelp.This article is divided into six chapters:Chapter one: Introduction. This part generally discussed the background andsignificance of the thesis, the scope and content, methods, etc;Chapter two: Theoretical study of appropriate technology and architectural practiceat home and abroad. By comprehensive understanding the concept and characteristics ofappropriate technology theory,grasping the appropriate technology strategy in the localconstruction and summarizing the experiences and lessons learned of domestic andinternational architectural practice on appropriate technology, we can provide areference for residential construction in rural of central Hunan;Chapter three: Current status and analysis of Hunan region. Firstly, we mustpreliminary understanding of the central Hunan village of natural, cultural, economic and social background; Secondly, with a large number of first-hand research, it wouldhelp to understand the local rural house building and housing needs of farmers, thensum up problems to be solved, providing realistic basis for the latter part of theproposed design;Chapter four: Appropriate technology strategy. The suitability of rural houseconstruction methods would be summarized from the planning, space, construction andenergy for the Rural housing of central Hunan region;Chapter five: Design model. Based on the research problems and theappropriateness of the summary of the construction methods, solo rural house designwas proposed;Chapter six: A conclusion part. Rural house-building are summarized andprospected. |
