As one of the noted historic and cultural cities in China, Ancient town Fenghuang isvery representative in terms of national architecture and national culture of westernHunan, and was ever commended to be the most beautiful town of China by the NewZealand famous author-Rewi Alley.2002, under the approval of State Council,Fenghuang became the101th noted historic and cultural cities in China. In this regionare a lot of reserved ancient architectures. Due to the special environments of geographyand history, these architectures are influenced by local social and humane factors andgradually become harmonious and graceful building landscapes of great Individualmagnetisms, showing the architectural character of ancient town Fenghuang. Thebuilding landscapes are important components of morphological character, naturecharacter and cultural connotation of Fenghuang. Except uniqueness in pattern, there isalso much mature experience and deep cultural connotation in these buildings which isworth to be researched. Therefore, the research of the building landscapes of Fenghuangis a very significant work.Under this background, the building landscapes of Fenghuang are selected as theinvestigated subject and a great deal of data in nature, history and humanity arecollected. Above all, this work researches the cause of information of these buildings.According to the research results, the forming of these building landscapes is not onlyclosely relative to nature and cultural environment but also some social factors. Then,the paper analyzes the building landscapes of Fenghuang form three different levels. Inmacroscopy, the space layout of Fenghuang is generally stated. Starting with thecomposition of the building landscapes, a deep and global analysis is performed in theinterior of the buildings with many examples. In microscopy, the details of the buildingare described and discussed explicitly. Through the above three levels of analysis, thelandscape architecture is analyzed in several different space levels. Meanwhile, basedon a distinct knowledge of landscape of Fenghuang, the paper generalizes the estheticcharacter of Fenghuang presenting its superior research value. Finally, this paper revealsthe enlightenment of the building landscape of Fenghuang to modern building designand gives a few advices about ecological protection and administration.
