High performance steel (GJ) is structural steel which has been widely used in manysignificant national construction project and which is proved has the maximumperformance while remaining cost-effective and social benefits. Compared with theinitial structural steel, GJ steel has a superior prospect. So there are lots of works aboutthe basic research on applications of GJ steel needed to do.A brief introduction of GJ is presented in this paper, including the properties of GJsteel、engineering application、research status and research directions; Based on theprevious research results, coupled with a non-liner analysis to three kinds of sections byANSYS a general-purpose finite element software, can be predicted the overall stabilityof the Q345GJ steel axial compression members. Compared with the finite elementanalysis results and the test results to know and grasp the accuracy degree of the models.Combined with the structural reliability theory, the statistical characteristics for thecalculating mode and resistance indeterminateness of the Q345GJ steel axialcompressed members are given. that provide reference for the reliability analysis andthe resistance partial safety factor. The following conclusions can be drawn from the results of analysis. The methodsof ANSYS finite element models for the whole stability of axial compressed members, coupled with the residual stress and initial geometric imperfections, are reliable. Thefluctuation of column curves between Q345GJ and class “b” in the code is very small. The axial compression members of Q345GJ steel can use the column curve for class “b"as a simplified processing method. The statistical parameters μKPand δKPfor thecalculating mode indeterminateness of Q345GJ steel axial compressed members can betaken as1.117and0.0799. The statistical parameters μRand δRfor the resistanceindeterminateness of Q345GJ steel axial compressed members can be taken as1.1716and0.0993.
