The steering system is one of the important components that affect the car’scomfort and safety. The electric power steering system with high efficiency and energysaving represent the future development direction of automotive steering system. Withthe development of automotive electronics, the electric power steering system has alsobeen constantly improved and perfect. EPS system can not get its inside state while it’sworking, so it may be not in accordance with pre-set power characteristics and controlstrategies for real-time power control, which is subject to the uncertainties of the outsideinterference, it further lead to control performance and other issues. The EPS systemwith real-time monitoring function in this paper could real-time get the inside state ofthe system at work and provide an analytical basis for the problems in the course ofwork.The paper mainly introduces the design of a EPS system with the function ofreal-time monitoring. Firstly, the paper briefly described the development process of thesteering system and the characteristics of the various stages, which details the status quoand advantages of the electric power steering system at home and abroad; secondly, thepaper described the working principle and components of the EPS system and detailedthe key component of the EPS system; in the third chapter, it introduces the theoreticalbasis of the real-time monitoring function of the EPS system and summed up the designof the EPS system with the function of real-time monitoring; in the fourth chapter, itintroduced the hardware design of the EPS system with real-time monitoring accordingto the design of the required functions and features, including the design of the XC886microcontroller’s peripheral circuit, signal acquisition circuit, the motor drive circuitand power circuit, etc; then on the base of hardware design and according to thefunctional requirement of the EPS, the software of the EPS system is designed; finally,the relevant test is done to demonstrate the feasibility of the EPS system with thefunction of real-time monitoring.
